Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS) of Lutheran Social Services will sponsor a free financial education class on Thursday, May 6, running from 6-7 p.m. at the Yankton Community Library, 515 Walnut Street.

A debt charity has said it had seen a "sharp rise" in the number of people contacting it for help. The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) said its helpline received 93,234 calls during the first three months of the year, 34% more than during the same period of 2009.
